This is the bizarre moment a man tried to drive a bus which was full of passengers, before being pinned to the floor by police.
Bewildered travellers watched on as the man boarded the vehicle at Accrington’s new bus station and attempted to start it.
Footage shows the man standing up in the driver’s cab, appearing to play with the controls.
Witnesses say he was shouting at passengers to ‘get off’ and was on board for around 10 minutes before police arrived.
The video then cuts to the man on the floor as he is being detained by officers.
It happened just before 9pm on Tuesday, April 4, and Lancashire Police have confirmed a 36-year-old man was arrested at the scene on suspicion of being drunk and disorderly.
Passenger Liam Fox, 16, from Accrington, who was travelling to a friend’s house in Baxenden at the time, said: “At first I was confused as I had no idea what was going on.
"A man was shouting and telling everyone to get off the bus.
“A lot of people in the bus station were in shock and a few of them were ringing people to alert them of the situation.
“The man was on the bus for about 10 minutes before the police arrived and it was another 10 minutes before he was arrested and put in the back of the van.
“We had to evacuate the bus and it was around 35 minutes later we were allowed back on.”
A spokesperson for Lancashire Constabulary added: “We were contacted yesterday evening at 8.50pm about a nuisance when a member of the public made their way onto a bus and became aggressive towards the driver.
"He then attempted to start the vehicle.
“Police attended the scene and arrested a 36-year-old man who remains in custody.”
The bus involved is operated by Rosso who said they aware of the incident and are currently investigating but did not wish to comment.
