Rishton tasted defeat this weekend at the hands of title contenders Haslingden.

A score of 128 after 50 overs proved to be insufficient as the total was quickly chased down by the Worsley Cup finalists.

Professional Daniel Salpietro top- scored for the home side with 28 before losing his wicket to in-form bowler Brenton Parchment, who took four wickets.

Richard Roston made 22 while a ninth-wicket stand between between Greaves and Sartaj mustered an additional 37 for the home side.

Rishton’s bowling attack was unable to limit the Hassy batsman after the interval – feeling the sharp sting of Haslingden’s opener and captain Graham Knowles who went on to score 62.

The Rishton target was met in under 30 overs and attention now shifts to next week’s tough tie against Haslingden’s semi-final opponents, Nelson.
