Promotion-chasing Cheltenham escaped from the Crown Ground with all three points despite Stanley bossing most of the game.
The Reds had the better of the chances and possession, but the visitors scored with their only shot on target through substitute Jeff Goulding, just before the break.
Stanley did their utmost to grab an equaliser, but the Robins held on.
