Ex=Red Jimmy Ryan has been shortlisted as npower League Two Player of the Year 2011 at the Northwest Football Awards.

Ryan, 23, scored seven times in 44 appearances for Accrington last season before making a summer move to Scunthorpe United.

At the star-studded event, npower, title sponsors of The Football League, will be presenting their Awards to the top players in the Championship, League One and League Two.

Ryan Lowe (Bury, now Sheffield Wednesday), Paul Bolland (Macclesfield Town, now Mansfield), Clayton Donaldson (Crewe, now Brentford), Andy Parrish (Morecambe) and Adam Griffin (Stockport County, now Hyde) are also on the shortlist for the award.

Professional Footballers’ Association Chief Executive Gordon Taylor is one of the judges.

He said: "The region has built up phenomenal respect and credibility, not only through the success of its clubs, but also as the home to the PFA, The Football League and The National Football Museum."

The winners will be announced at the Awards ceremony on Monday November 14 at Old Trafford Cricket Ground.
