ACCRINGTON Stanley skipper Peter Cavanagh could face an operation in the near future if an injection on his troublesome ankle doesn't work this week.
The influential right back was plagued with the injury towards the end of last season and had a scan on his ankle this week.
He has only played in one friendly this season - 45 minutes against Radcliffe Borough.
The specialists have found a problem but are hoping an injection today will clear it up and he can begin training again early next week.
If not the 23-year-old could face an operation at some stage this season.
