ACCRINGTON Stanley wanted a Premiership side in the Carling Cup draw but Peter Cavanagh admits Watford away is certainly not ideal.

Stanley's reward for beating Nottingham Forest in the first round is a trip to Vicarage Road on Tuesday 19 September to face the top flight new boys.

"We wanted a Premiership club but I think this was probably the hardest draw we could have had," said the skipper. "Watford are a bit like ourselves in that they like to get in your face and be physical and it will be a high tempo game. We are under no illusions that it will be a tough ask and probably a bruising encounter.

"The odds will be against us but no one tipped us to beat Forest and we did so you just never know.

"I have spoke to a lot of my friends who saw Everton beat Watford 2-1 on the opening day of the Premiership season and they said Watford were a really good side and were unlucky to lose. We can only go there and do our best."

Stanley defender Michael Welch has had previous experience of playing the Hornets as Macclesfield drew them in the FA Cup in 2003. Watford won 2-0.
