Stanley boss John Coleman has been linked with yet another job – this time the one at League One Rochdale.

Coleman had been one of the favourites with the bookies for both Morecambe and Bury although neither club said they had approached the Reds’ boss and both have appointed internally with Jim Bentley and Richie Barker stepping into their respective hotseats.

However there is a vacant spot at Rochdale following Keith Hill’s departure to Barnsley this week and Coleman’s name is again in the frame.

Coleman still has a contract until 2015 which has put off clubs such as Bradford in the past.

"He was always going to linked with vacancies at other clubs and it will be ongoing while he continues to be successful at Accrington,"said chief executive Rob Heys.

"We still think he has got more work to do here though and am confident he will stay."

Spotland chairman Chris Dunphy has not ruled out Coleman, saying: "I’ve already seen some high-quality applications, including from people who have managed in the Premier League.

"As a board we’re looking to continue developing the club. That will be reflected in the type of appointment we make, because the club has moved on.

"When I appointed Keith, he had no experience of management, but we were third from bottom of League Two. The decision wasn’t that difficult at the time, because the only way was up.

"We have become a bigger club since then. We’re still looking for somebody young and vibrant, but with more experience that Keith had at the start. The bar has been raised.

"Ideally, I’d like to have a new man in place in the next two to three weeks."

Ex-Rochdale defender Dave Bayliss, currently joint manager of Barrow, is another in the frame although the likes of ex-Barnsley boss Mark Robins, Simon Davey and Ronnie Moore are out of work.
