John Coleman has said there is little room for error in the 19 League Two games left.

The Reds boss believes his 19th placed side can still achieve a coveted play-off spot as, although they are 12 points behind seventh-placed Port Vale, they do have as many as four games in hand on some of the teams above them.

But he has set a tough mark for his side, leaving hardly any room for manoeuvre in what will be an action-packed few months.

"I think if we get 10 wins and four or five draws, then we will be there and I can see no reason why we can’t do it," said the Reds boss, whose side have only lost eight of their 27 league games this season – but have drawn 12.

"We can only afford to lose around four more games but we have played nearly every team in the league and we have nothing to fear. We are certainly not worse than a lot of the top teams."

The Reds lost 2-0 to automatic promotion chasers Rotherham on Tuesday in a match they should have won but couldn’t finish their numerous chances while the Millers took their two.

"Every team knows we will give them a tough game and, anyone who watched our defeat at Rotherham on Tuesday, will know we were the better side and didn’t deserve to lose.

"We played the better football, we created the better chances and we defended better than them for the majority of game but, for the two times we went to sleep, we were punished.

"The frustrating thing is that, in the two games we have played against Rotherham this season, we have taken no points and we were miles better than them in every department, apart from the crucial one which is putting the ball in the net.

"It can’t all be about Terry Gornell and we have to get goals from other avenues.

"I kicked off at the lads after the game and, looking back, it was harsh as they played well but just haven’t scored.

"That’s the really frustrating thing. Ian Craney had a great chance in the first minute and snatched at it and was absolutely sick as he knew he should have scored.

"But I am a firm believer that, if you are playing well, results will come and we just have to continue playing as we have done."

The games come thick and fast for the Reds now with two high-flyers,Wycombe tomorrow and Crewe on Tuesday, providing their next tests.

And, despite having a bumper squad at the Crown Ground, he is loathe to change a side who are impressing him – but for the goals.

"I do sound like a broken record at times about how well we have played and how we deserved more but anyone there on Tuesday could see it – and it’s been the same story for a lot of the season."

Coleman has almost a fully fit squad with only Leam Richardson (strain) missing out on Tuesday and Burnley loan defender Kevin Long now fighting for a first team place after a broken toe.

And with Chris Turner, Andy Owens, Johnny Bateson and Andy Parkinson among others not in the squad on Tuesday, Coleman does have numerous players chomping at the bit but he admits he may need them all in the run-in.

"The fans think we have got a big squad but, to be honest, they don’t really cost a lot of money.

"There is not a great deal of money there – we don’t pay massive wages – so I am not sure if players will go out on loan.

"There may be some movement but we may need them all for the run-in."

THE Reds did enquire about former Arsenal and Everton striker Franny Jeffers during January but he has moved to Motherwell.

STANLEY reserves drew 2-2 at Wrexham on Wednesday with a penalty from Peter Murphy and Rory Boudling scored the other. Both sides had a man sent off – Sean McConville got a straight red for a tackle. Kevin Long came through the full 90 minutes but Andy Owens came off injured for the Reds.
