David Lloyd is urging people to buy shares in Stanley – after spreading the word in India.

The Sky commentator has been in India unfortunately watching England lose the one-day series 5-0.

But he has been wearing his Stanley shirt with pride keeping tabs on the Reds’ results back home and the share issue, launched last Friday.

"This is a time when a supporter needs to support the club," said Accrington-born Lloyd.

"We aren’t Man City or United, Chelsea, Blackburn or Burnley but it is our club."

Chairman Ilyas Khan launched the new share issue last week with the chance to buy a share in the club for £100. There are 9,999 shares up for grabs.

He has said it will be more of a long-term than short-term strategy with around 50 shares sold so far. For more information visit www.wearestanley.co.uk.
