ACCRINGTON Stanley's Peter Cavanagh and goalkeeper Jon Kennedy are in the 12-man contingency squad - the reserve group - for the England National XI side's Four Nations Tournament next month.

The 18-man squad is open age and will face the Republic of Ireland on 18 May at Deverondale FC, Wales on 20 May and Scotland on 23 May.

England are the defending champions. "I didn't know what to expect," said Stanley skipper Cavanagh. "I knew the team would change as it is an open age squad."

Cavanagh has played for the England Under 23 side twice this season,while Kennedy has got one cap.

Manager Paul Fairclough said: "For the contingency squad, we have selected players who have played in the Under 23 internationals and have never let me down."

The side will also fly out to America to face the United States on 9 June.
