STANLEY'S "Male Fan of the Year" Steve Lowe is expecting a big send off on Saturday to mark the end of "Loweiy's Lucky Buses".

Steve will take final sole charge of the Accrington fans coach at Forest Green before a group known as the Stanley Ultras - a group of Red fans - takes over the organisation of the away travel.

It will be a smooth transition with Steve still involved to a lesser extent and boss John Coleman paid tribute to the two years hard work Steve has put into running the away coaches.

"The players certainly appreciate the away fans and Steve has done a good job running the coaches," said Coleman.

"I guess many of the fans who go on the coaches represent the hard core of fans who have been with us through thick and thin. These are the ones who tend to get less edgy or don't get on the players backs when things aren't going too well.

"Some of support has been magnificent - they have made a big noise away from home and have played their part over the years and long may it continue."

Steve, meanwhile, wanted to say a big thank-you to everyone who has made a Lucky Bus trip.

"I would like to thank everybody who helped out with the running of the travel and all those who came along for the ride!" he said.

The coach to Forest Green will leave the Crown pub at 8am. The cost is £20 and there are still a few seats left. For the final time ring Steve on 07775 704072 to book.

  • THE Ultras are also planning a "Raise Your Scalf" day which will take place in the home game against Halifax Town on Boxing Day. They are asking fans to raise their scalves and promote a carnival atmosphere.
