MIKE Flynn admits he is disappointed with the way things have worked out as he looks on the verge of leaving Accrington Stanley.

The 36-year-old defender has fallen out of favour at the Interlink and his future looks likely to be decided over the next few days - whether he goes out on loan or whether he is released by the club.

The former Stockport hero has had a number of offers from Conference North clubs and interest from fellow Conference clubs as well as being in talks with UniBond side Radcliffe Borough. He is currently waiting to see what happens.

"I am very disappointed to be leaving," said Flynn, who could be off before tomorrow (Sat) or may still feature against Grays, depending on the injury situation.

"I thought I started the season reasonably well and, when I was playing, we got up to second in the league.

"I am not sure what is going to happen as the manager has said I could still figure in the future if I do go out on loan.

"But I have played around 50 games for Accrington and thoroughly enjoyed my time here.

"I came here to play first team football and I did that for most of my time here and have no regrets at leaving Blackpool.

"I think I have played okay and I think most of the fans have taken to me and they have been great.

"When I look back, we have had some good games like beating Stevenage and Barnet last season at home and that showed what a good footballing club Accrington is. The only thing we have lacked is the consistency.

"And the local derbies were always enjoyable as well - especially when we played Morecambe last season and came from 1-0 down to win 2-1.

"But I have had quite a lot of offers and it is nice to be in demand especially when I am going on 37.

"Hopefully I can play the next eight months somewhere and get another 12 months in after that, if I am not at Accrington."

Meanwhile left back Chris Butler looks set to join Conference rivals Altrincham.

The 21-year-old has been told he will not get regular matches at the Interlink and he has been looking for a move elsewhere.

He has been training with Altrincham, was due to play for their reserves and is expected to sign over the next few days.
