A NEW look Stanley slumped to their fifth straight League Two defeat at fellow strugglers Grimsby.
The Reds included five first-time starters in the team but they couldn't gel and Mariners boss Alan Buckley celebrated his first home game back in charge of Grimsby with a much-needed victory.
Cardiff's Joe Jacobson, Crewe's Adam Dugdale and Liverpool David Mannix - all signed on loan deadline day - got the nod for the Reds alongside recent signings winger Shaun Whalley and striker Leighton McGivern.
But it was Grimsby who got off to a dream start when their loan debutant Martin Paterson fired home from close range on 12 minutes.
Ian Dunbavin then kept Stanley in the game with a string of stunning saves before Gary Jones scored a wonder goal after the break.
Stanley hit the post through Mannix and had an Andy Procter goal ruled out for off-side but they couldn't find a way through.
"The best team won," conceded boss John Coleman. "They were sharper than us and we are conceding daft goals. You shouldn't have to score three to win a game. It is my job to get it right and I will get it right."
