ACCRINGTON Stanley are back in the play-off hunt after seeing off one of their fellow promotion contenders live on Sky television on Monday.
Halifax took the lead through a neat Dean Howells back flick on 37 minutes before a volley from Steve Jagielka got Stanley back on level terms just before the break.
Town were the better side before the break but Stanley came out strongly in the second half and Ged Brannan headed home the winner.
Halifax did hit the post but Stanley held on for a much-needed three points which moved them from mid-table and back into the play-off chase.
"We have let ourselves down in the past but we are right back in there," said boss John Coleman. "Now we have to pick up a few points in quick succession.
"Halifax could have put us to bed as it was a game we couldn't afford to lose."
