Only four teams entered this year but it was the quality of the opposition which made it difficult.
Huncoat faced the top three teams from the East Lancashire Red League beating Lammack 2-0 in the opening game before recording an impressive 2-0 victory over Langho to top the group.
Huncoat’s final group game was against Red League champions Knuzden but instead of playing them twice back-to-back it was decided to just go straight to the final as they had also already qualified for the last two spot.
After 20 minutes of normal time the game was goalless, so it was 10 minutes of the golden goal rule and it was Huncoat who scored the important goal.
Huncoat United Under 11s, who play in the 9v9 league on Sundays, are looking for a striker and central midfielder to join their successful team for the upcoming season. The Under 10s Allstars beat Langho 2-0 and then drew 1-1 with Haslingden.
Haslingden took the lead but Huncoat got back into it when Taylor Harris hit a corner to the back post and Jack Beech met it on the half volley and found the top corner. MOTM was Olly Hall
They then put five past Great Harwood Rovers. Callum Thelwell set up Jack Beech for the first; Lloyd Losardo tucked home the second while Taylor Harris scored the third.
There was a goalmouth scramble for the fourth after the keeper couldn’t hold Beech’s shot with Thelwell credited with the final touch. Beech got his second of the match to finish it off with MOTM Taylor Harris.
The Under 10 Badgers won 1-0 against Oswaldtwistle Rangers then beat Great Harwood Rovers 6-2 before they saw off Mellor 2-1.
The Under 11s Sunday lost 2-0 to Haslingden and were made to pay for not taking their chances. MOTM was Callum Boyle while Manager’s MOTM was Dylan Liddle.
The Under 11s Saturday were 5-2 winners over Brierfield Celtic; they then won 5-1 against Haslingden followed by a 7-0 win over Rossendale United and beat Greyhound Ford Red 6-1.
The Under 12s are finding it hard going in the league. They lost 12-0 to Pendle Forest with MOTM Joshua Chadwick; they then lost 15 - 0 to Rossendale Valley Lads with MOTM Leon Pascoe before falling to a 15-1 defeat to Rossendale Valley. The goal scorer was Jay Daniels with MOTM was Lewis Ware.
The Under 13s Allstars lost 3-2 to Fulledge Colts and then suffered a 4-2 defeat to Clayton Park Rangers.
The Under 13s on Sunday saw off Crown Paints Black 4-2 then drew 1-1 with Crown Paints Gold before losing 3-2 to Langho.
The Under 15s lost 2-0 to Crown Paints while the Under 16s had three games - seeing off Rishton United 3-2 then losing 4-2 to Pendle Forest before a 6-0 win over Great Harwood Rovers.
AGSA: The Under 12s played host to Darwen Rangers in a closly fought game. Accrington played well, showing pride after a heavy defeat the week before.
The Darwen keeper made four excellent saves in the first half and this proved to be the deciding factor with Accrington losing 2-1.
The Under 17s got their season off to a winning start with a 7-1 win over Barandlesholme Warriors.
Brandlesholme took the lead but Accrington captain Amy Sturgess scored the equaliser. Her midfield team mate Beth Hibbert put Accrington in front to make it 2-1 at half-time The second half was dominated by Accrington with four goals from POTM Kerry Bamford and a goal from Sophie Jones completing the scoring.
Accrington Ladies played host to Harraby Catholic Club in the first FA Women’s Cup game to be held in Accrington.
It was a solid team performance from Accrington but it only took one goal from Harraby to see them through to the second round. POTM was Caroline Mallen.
RISHTON UNITED: On Saturday, the under nine Reds won 3-1 against Barnoldswick Town Whites while the Under 10s lost 6-1 to Whalley. Thomas Oliver was on target.
The Under 11s lost 2-0 to Feniscowles and Pleasington in the East Lancashire League. Matt Steer was Manager’s MOTM while captain Niall Holt did well.
The Under 13s suffered a 6-2 loss to Rossendale Valley with Jack Goggins and Ryan Cothliff the scorers.
In the Blackburn Combination, Rishton A ran out 5-1 winners over Knowles Arms. Player-manager Danny Morton opened the scoring, the ball looped over the keeper’s head for the second before both sides were reduced to ten men with keeper Matt Gainford getting a straight red for violent conduct. Dec Campbell got the third before Morton added two more.
Rishton reserves won 5-3 against Feniscowles and Pleasington reserves after being 3-0 down at half-time.
Elsewhere, the Under nines were 5-2 winners over Wilpshire Wanderers Black.
Callum Monahan opened the scoring, Simon Avison made it 2-1 with Kyle Essery adding the third. Sam Steer made it four before Adam Devine rounded things off with the fifth. MOTM was Simon Avison.
The Under 12s lost 3-1 to Burnley West End, Tom Bartley on the scoresheet. MOTM was keeper Pat McGregor.
The Under 15s put 17 past Roefield Leisure. Ollie Crabtree got two and Adam Aspinall also got a brace with Rishton 8-0 up at half-time. Other goals came from Reece Waters, Joe Thompson (two), Dylan Cross and new signing Dylan Palmer. Kieran Royal was also on target as was Lewis hall (two), Brad Campbell (two) and Mitchell Ashcroft. Goalkeepers Josh Higham and Kieran Ainscough - playing outfield at the time - werre also in the goals. MOTM was Brad Campbell.
The Under 16s Blue lost 6-2 to Burnley Rangers. MOTM Liam McNulty made the score 1-1 before Jonathon Savage made it 3-2 at half-time. It was a closer game than the scoreline suggests.
