As we have had a break, it’s nice to take a step back and give you the low down on a few of the lads who have joined us this season – and now settled in.

Firstly, Bryan Hughes who is hard work when he has had a bevvy! No, he is great value and has settled in really well.

He is great and his experience has been a valuable asset to us, especially when both myself and Proc were missing recently.

Like all good scousers, he got straight involved in the banter and he has also been solid on the pitch. A top man.

Padraig Amond (Podge) never stops talking and knows the answer to any question you may ask. He is a real statto.

We were throwing questions at him the other day and he got 11 out of 12 right which isn’t bad. I think his brains are hidden in his moustache!

But he is really good to have around the place and gives 100 per cent in training. He has started to get the goals now and hopefully he will build on that.

Danny Coid is quality – although he is a bit of a spaceman. Danny makes me and the rest of the lads laugh without realising it. I can just listen to him all day and giggle at him.

On the pitch, there is no doubt about his ability. Injuries have hampered him but hopefully he will get a good run in the side and show what he can do. It’s great to have a player like him at the club.

Tom Bender perhaps hasn’t had his chance yet but he is here until the end of the season and I am sure he will grab it when it comes.

He is over his injury now but he has had a lot of stick off the lads for it. Every time I turned on Sky for a week he was there so we did get sick of him!

Thankfully he is fine and he shows a lot of enthusiasm in training and I am sure he has a big future ahead of him.

I used to like Jayden Stockley until I saw the YouTube video of him singing Robbie Williams. Anyone who hasn’t seen it must watch it!

But he showed his finishing ability against Macclesfield and what a threat he can be and he is another who has a big future in the game.

Hopefully he will keep his run going and score a few more for Accrington – but leave his singing skills behind him!

Kevin McIntyre I think has been our most consistent player this season and he is another who settled in easily –¿probably again with the scouse banter.

He has been a top signing, he is a great lad to have around the place and he another who has valuable experience which we need in a young side.

Sean Murdoch was probably unlucky to lose his place in goal as he established himself in the side early on. But, fair play to Bavs (Ian Dunbavin) he came in and did well and managed to keep his place.

Someone said Sean is the intelligent one of the team but I don’t think anyone holds that award here! Perhaps Leam (Richardson) but he doesn’t always show it.

Micah Evans has added pace to our team and I think he has been one of the shining lights in the last couple of games.

He has done well out wide for us and has been an asset, hopefully we can keep him longer.

I think we are all raring to go again now after the week’s break.

I hate watching the FA Cup draw when you are not involved, it’s horrendous. Saying that, I think I have had a lot of practise!

In my football career, I think I have only got past the first round once and that was for Swansea when we got knocked out against Ipswich. I have never had a good run in it and it is frustrating. One day....

You sit and watch Oldham maybe going to Liverpool; Macclesfield maybe taking on Bolton and my old club Fleetwood perhaps up against Blackpool.

But we aren’t in it and now all our attention has to be switched to the league. I have certainly found there is a new confidence around the team the last two weeks.

Confidence obviously starts with results and we have are on a four-game unbeaten run in the league and so that’s obviously helped.

We are only a young squad but there is a buzz around the place and hopefully we can build on that tomorrow at AFC Wimbledon.

I was going to travel down to support the lads but am off to Lilleshall next week for a serious week session.

It’s like four week’s pre-season crammed into four days and it will be hard. I am slightly worried as I am a moaner so I need to go there in the right frame of mind, ready to put my body through it.

The thought of being back for the Morecambe game – my former club – on Boxing Day will certainly spur me on. My dream at the moment is to come off the bench and score the winner – that would be perfect.

I am frustrated as the closer you get to being fit, the quicker you want it to happen and I want to play tomorrow but I know it’s too soon. I can’t wait to be back.

By the way, I am not a watcher of Desperate Scousewives but a few of my old Fleetwood team-mates had a background dancing role in one of the episodes. They do it as their goal celebration now and I laughed the other day as the lads were all doing it and Cav (Peter Cavanagh) ran up to join in. It was like being at a young and trendy party and then your dad turning up!
