ACCRINGTON Stanley insist that Ian Craney will still be beyond Morecambe’s price range despite their recent financial boost.

The Shrimps have sold Carl Baker to Stockport for £175,000 this week, rising to £225,000.

Morecambe made two bids for Stanley’s £85,000 record buy midfielder last month but Stanley turned down what was believed to be a money plus player deal.

"If Carl Baker is worth £225,000 then Morecambe wouldn’t be able to afford Ian Craney," said Reds boss John Coleman.

Coleman admitted he would have been interested in Morecambe winger Michael Twiss, but he looks set to move to Bury for around £50,000.

The Reds boss has been a long term admirer of the former Manchester United trainee.

"I would have liked him but I think he is out of our price range," he said.

Coleman is also a fan of Shrimps’ Craig Stanley.

"I like Craig but I think we have enough midfielders," he added.
