JUNIOR FOOTBALL ROUND-UP: OSSY Rangers' Under nines drew 1-1 with Great Harwood with Nathan Reddaway getting on the scoresheet and Adam Smith MOTM.
The Under 10s beat Great Harwood 1-0.
The Under 13s turned around their recent poor form with a fine display beating Wilpshire 5-2. MOTM Isaac Archer celebrated a hat-trick with Jack Gaskill scoring the other two.
HUNCOAT UNITED: The Under 10s ran out 4-1 winners over Rishton on Saturday. They trailed 1-0 before Archie Twist found Henry Hindle who struck his shot home to make it 1-1 at the break. Huncoat were kept at bay after the interval until a Twist corner was squeezed in by Callum Boyle. Joel Fox got the third before Hindle set up Twist to finish the scoring. Referee’s MOTM was Joe Lloyd for his battling and energetic performance while Callum Boyle was the manager’s choice.
The Under 10 Badgers ran out 3-0 winners over Mellor on Sunday. Callum Boyle hit the post but then made amends, getting on the end of Tom Sumner’s ball, to make it 1-0 at half-time. Dylan Liddle set up Lewis Eccles for the second while Max Verlander crossed for Rowan Holden to strike home the third. Opposition MOTM was Dylan Liddle while Manager’s MOTM was Lewis Eccles. Captain’s Performance was Max Verlander.
The Under 12s on Saturday suffered an 8-2 loss to Clitheroe Wolves while, on Sunday, they lost 3-1 to Mill Hill.
The Under 15s drew 1-1 with Burnley Rangers on Saturday while the Under 16s were 3-1 winners over Barrowford Celtic.
GREYHOUND FORD: The Under 10s drew 1-1 at Church. Greyhound started well and dominated, scoring through Jordan Taylor. They also hit the woodwork but were only 1-0 up at half-time. They were made to pay for missed chances when Church scored after the break to share the spoils. The Referee’s MOTM was Matt Ingham and the Manager’s MOTM was Kyle Mason.
GREAT HARWOOD ROVERS: The Under 10s tasted defeat in a league game for the first time this season as they lost 1-0 at Oswaldtwistle Rangers. They then bounced back to the top of the league with a 4-2 victory over Mill Hill Blue. Rovers raced into a 3-0 lead with two goals from Zac Geldard and one from Callum Donohue. Mill Hill pulled two goals back to make the half-time score 3-2. It was an even second half but a goal from Zac Geldard completed his hat-trick and clinched the points for Harwood.
The senior team managed to hang onto their unbeaten run with a 2-2 draw against the Spinning Jenny. MOTM David Anwar opened the scoring with a header from a Kevin Thompson free kick. Spinning Jenny equalised then just before half-time before Philip Rushton put Harwood 2-1 up. In the second half, Spinning Jenny made it 2-2 but neither side could grab the winning goal.
RISHTON UNITED: On Sunday, the Under 11s lost 4-1 to Briercliffe Rovers. They trailed 3-0 at half-time but came out with more conviction after the break. However they didn’t take their chances and Briercliffe made it four. Andrew Noblet got a goal back and then Rishton keeper Danny Holden saved a penalty. Rishton’s MOTM was Jamie Maxwell who gave a great second half performance.
On Saturday, the Under 15s Blue lost 3-1 to Wilpshire Wanderers. Rishton keeper Scott Corbett had to save twice early on but Wilpshire then took the lead. Rishton replied immediately though Liam McNulty before Wilpshire retook the lead with a scrambled goal to make it 2-1 at half-time. Kane Barker had a shot tipped over the bar but time ran out for Rishton and Wilpshire grabbed a late third. Rishton MOTM was Joe Dunn.
The Under 10s suffered a 4-1 defeat to Huncoat while the Under 15s lost 3-1 to Wilshire and the Under 16s lost 5-0 to Crown Paints Green.
