Jayden Stockley admits that his time with the Reds has been a learning curve – and he doesn’t mind if his stay at the Crown Ground is extended so he can learn a bit more.

The 18-year-old’s loan spell is up in January and then he could return to parent club Bournemouth.

But he is happy enough if he is still in Lancashire at the end of this season.

"I am really happy here," said the two-goal hero. "My loan spell is until January and if it gets extended, I don’t know.

"It depends on the circumstances as all I want to do is play football and the gaffer and Jimmy Bell have given me a chance to do that here and I owe them.

"They have taught me a lot since I have been here and we shall just see what happens as I am happy here."

Stockley scored a 30-yard wonder strike for his second career league goal against Torquay on Saturday. "It was definitely my best goal of my professional career," said Stockley who scored his first against Macclesfield for Stanley from inside the area.

"I took a gamble and I knew I hadn’t had that many shots in the game on Saturday. I was feeling good and I was just glad it went in.

"We had been practising them in training and the funny thing is, as soon as I hit it, I knew it was in.

"I just hit it perfectly and it was a dream moment for me.

"You always feel emotional when you have scored a goal but, I must admit, I don’t mind if they are five yards or 25 yards, I just want to keep picking up three points."

He continued: "I think I have made six appearances here, four starts, so I am pretty happy with my contribution so far.

"I am now desperate to score a brace in a game and I think I was on for it against Torquay as we kept creating chances, but it was just a superb team performance by us."

Stockley joined the Reds in early November and hasn’t yet experienced a league defeat.

"There is a real buzz around the place. You go into training and the gaffer and Jimmy have everyone up for it and they are exciting times.

"I know this time last year the club put a run together and got into the play-offs and hopefully we can do the same and go one better. We just want to keep climbing the league."

And he says there is plenty of respect at the club – and showed it at the bad shirt Christmas party, where the players bought each other a tasteless shirt to wear on a night out.

"Bryan Hughes had got a really bad shirt that was too big for him. It was white with fruit all over it and it was short sleeved as well.

"I have a lot of respect for Bryan and, as his was so disgusting, I swapped and hoped I could carry it off. I did my best!"

But Stockley admits he is still trying to get his team-mates to stop laughing after his YouTube video, filmed years ago, of him singing and doing the actions to Robbie Williams single ‘Feel’. He copied it in his goal celebration on Saturday and admitted: "The lads have been on at me to do the actions.

"They all laughed at the video and haven’t let it rest, so I decided to do it – just this once!"
