ACCRINGTON Stanley are on the look-out for females to join their new team, Accrington Stanley Ladies FC.

The club's Commercial Manager and the ladies assistant manager, Karen Fazackerley, said: "After the success of the men's team last season, the club felt it was about time they had a women's team too."

Stanley chief executive Robert Heys said: "The ladies game is more popular than ever and I am sure that it will continue to grow and develop.

"We are looking to build on the success of our first team by developing the club in other ways, of which ladies football is a key area."

The ladies team has been well supported in the initial stages of the set-up in that they have secured a sponsorship deal with local company Vic Allonby Dairyman Ltd. And they will be using the Peel Park Hotel for their after-match supper.

The team is managed by Sarah McNaught, who has Lancashire County League experience as well as being an FA trained coach.

The Ladies are holding trials over the next few weeks. For more information look on www.stanleyladies.co.uk or ring 01254 356957.

Stanley will be playing in the Lancashire FA County League Division Two, kicking off on September 3.
