SATURDAY's Huncoat Under 9s put up a good fight, only to lose 2-0 against a good Accrington Stanley side. Sunday's Under 9s Allstars drew 3-3 against Blackburn Utd, Callum Savage scoring one, while MOTM Jack Beech bagged two.
The Under 11s White had another good win, beating Mellor Yellow 3-2, Chris Dwyer scoring twice, and MOTM Tom Gilroy adding the third. The Under 14s lost a close encounter, going down 2-1 against Wilpshire Wanderers, Jake Crabtree netting and Bradley Herbert grabbing MOTM.
FORD’S Under 14 team overcame a strong start from Rishton United to run out 5-1 winners. Drew Bramley opened the scoring for Greyhound with a fine left footed effort and Greyhound took control of the game with four cracking goals from Connor Wyre, Jack Dobson, Robert Makey and a second from rew Bramley. MOTM was Callum Dudley.
The Under 9s played an away game against St Joseph’s. The game started frantically as the lads got to terms with the bad conditions but soon settled with chances being missed at both ends. The second half was more of the same until a looped shot into the top corner left Joe Kirwin helpless.
Greyhound missed a couple of good chances late on, as they went down 1-0. The MOTM for Greyhound was Callum Mcdaid.
OSSY Rangers Under 8s were in fine form defeating Accrington Stanley 1-0. Luke Goulding was the goalscorer and had an outstanding match. The Under 12s Sunday team drew 2-2 with Akzo. Sam Cook put the visitors in front with a wonderful chip over the keeper. Ossy then found themselves 2-1 behind just after the break only for Daniel Leech's cool finish to gain a much deserved share of the points.
AN UNDER-strength Knuzden Youth Under 16s twice held the lead against Feniscowles thanks to goals from makeshift striker Danny Wilkinson and MOTM Nicky Dewhurst, but went down 3-2 to a very late penalty.
RISHTON United Blue Under 8s lost out 4-0 to a much improved Ighten Leigh side in the North Valley League. Earlier in the season Rishton had beaten Ighten 3-0 but they were set on gaining revenge. POTM, awarded by the opposition, was Bree O'Carroll.
THE Under 9s saw off Huncoat 2-0 thanks to strikes from Welsh and Creech. The Under 10s defeated Clitheroe Blue 4-0 with braces from Goulding and Rosbottom.
Stanley's Under 11s beat Rossendale Valley 6-1 with efforts from Cole 2, Moorcroft, Norcross, Harrison and Brown.
The Under 12s saw off Great Harwood 6-2 with Nuttall, Howarth and Yates all among the goals.
On Sunday the Stanley Under 8s Red went down by a solitary goal to Ossy Rangers.
Goals from Gilgunn and Harkness gave victory to the Under 8s Yellow over Langho Maroon, while the Under 8s Whites racked up 13 goals without reply to defeat Rossendale United. Ward (4), Barden (4), Treanor (2), Shaw and Hall were all on target.
The Under 9s Red saw off Akzo Yellow thanks to Welsh and Creech strikes. The Under 9s White beat Akzo Green 7-0 with efforts from Bentley (3), Fenton, Duxbury, Longworth and Gordon doing the damage. The Under 10s White went down 4-1 to Ossy St Mary's Red, with Pickering grabbing the consolation. Mellor were defeated 4-1 by the Under 12s Red, with goals from Shaw, Butterworth, Skiinner and Jackson.
The Under 12s Whites lost 6-1 to a strong Darwen unit, with Nuttall grabbing the Stanley reply. Ossy St Mary's were beaten 5-0 by the Under 13s thanks to goals from Knott (2), Jones, Cunningham and Parrington.
BLACKBURN, DARWEN AND HYNDBURN JYFL:
BLACKBURN, Darwen and Hyndburn JYFL overcame the Barrow and District Junior League 2-1 to reach the final of the LFA Under 16 Inter League competition.
Ben Bridson and Ryan Brereton were the players on target for Blackburn, who also missed a penalty. The Under 14s had already reached the final of their respective LFA competition.
