ACCRINGTON Stanley secretary Phil Terry is leaving after 14 years at the club.

The 68-year-old decided this week to call it a day and Hannah Bailey has taken over his role.

"Phil has been with the club for 14 years and has been very professional but he will be 69 in the summer and he feels he deserves a bit of a break," said chairman Eric Whalley. "His knowledge has been first class and he is helping Hannah settle into her new role."

Phil didn't really fancy the job as secretary when the old chairman John Alty asked him about it in 1992 with Stanley in the Northern Premier League.

But, with a fear of redundancy at his regular job, he decided to to take on the role "just in case" - and has been there ever since.

"I have had some happy times - and there have been some bad times too but the last seven years under John Coleman have been fantastic. I might still come along to some games but I just want a break."

Phil was nominated for a special championship medal when Stanley clinched promotion in April. "Looking back it was a nice way to go out," added Phil
