ACCRINGTON Stanley boss John Coleman needs his side to find their shooting boots at Aldershot tomorrow.

The Reds boss was bemoaning his side's lack of firepower after they hit the woodwork twice and missed a penalty in Tuesday's 3-0 loss to Northampton.

This was on the back of a strong 1-0 win over Lincoln on Saturday which had got Stanley off the mark in their fourth Football League campaign.

"We have got to keep going and we can't beat ourselves up about it. We can't think our season has been derailed just because of this as it has been two wins and two losses including the Carling Cup so far," said the Reds boss.

"We were wasteful in front of goal and we can't keep missing chances.

But we won't sulk and throw in the towel and we have got to bounce back."

Coleman may change his side as he said sub Sean McConville is pushing for a starting place while Michael Symes may also get the nod as Stanley hunt for those all-important goals.

"We played a behind-closed-doors friendly at Blackburn and gave a few lads a run out who are pushing for a first team place," he continued.

"What is a problem is that we have scored one league goal in three league games and it has been scored by a centre half – that's not good enough."

In the current financial climate, Coleman can only have 20 players registered at the club which has limited him bringing anyone else in at the moment.

"We already have 20 registered and one of them is John Mullin who is out injured so we are down to 19. John is still struggling with his ankle and is due to see a specialist next week so I will have towork with what we have got.

"Sean has done well when he has come on and he is pushing for a first team place. Michael Symes is also ready to take his chance while Chris Turner is waiting in the wings.

"They will be given a chance and then it is up to them to take it.

"I am just bitterly disappointed that, while we are making a lot of chances, we are not taking them.

"You just have to look at Tuesday. Dean Winnard has a free header in the centre of the goal and it is harder to miss than score – but he headed wide. It is a failing and we have to do better.

"Decisions have also gone against us. Their penalty was harsh – Phil Edwards has had a tug at the lad but it's not a penalty and that pales into insignificance on the push on Sean McConville, which wasn't given.

"If that had been given, about 15 minutes before the end, then we might have gone on and got something out of the game.

"People might say well you missed a penalty at the end anyway, but that was three minutes from time and earlier, it might have made a difference.

"But, while we are disappointed, we will take the positives and going to Aldershot will be tough.

"We didn't deserve to lose there last season and we will go there and give it a good go."

Then it's the Carling Cup campaign with the Reds making the long trip to Championship money bags side Queens Park Rangers on Tuesday night.
