Former Stanley winger Gary Roberts will have his eye on two play-offs. The winger will be part of Huddersfield’s side facing Bournemouth tomorrow as he looks to take the Terriers into the Championship.

But he admits he will then fully focus on Stanley’s clash with Stevenage on Sunday and hopes he can have a double celebration.

"I’ve watched a couple of Accrington games this season and there are some great players there, great young players who definitely could play at a higher level," said Roberts who was a big part of the 2006 Conference-winning side before his switch to Ipswich in October of that year.

"I still follow the results, still speak to the manager John Coleman and assistant Jimmy Bell most days and it’s a club close to my heart.

"They were my first professional club and I’ll be watching, hoping and praying that they can get that promotion."

Coleman saw Roberts playing Sunday football and he has never looked back with the move to Portman Road before a switch to Huddersfield.

And Lee Clark’s side, like Stanley, have found form since the turn of the year.

They are on a 25-game unbeaten run in League One – they last lost on December 28 – and Roberts continued: "Huddersfield are probably on a similar run to Accrington.

"We have been on a great run and maybe we could have expected more out of it, maybe automatic promotion.

"But I think at the back of our minds we knew that Southampton had it in them to win all their games so we’re not disappointed at being in the play-offs.

"We know we’re on a good run and have to use that confidence.

"I know Accrington are on a good run too and being on such a run leads to being confident.

"I think if you’re going to be on top of your game you need that confidence.

"Not having confidence is difficult for a footballer. You go into games thinking you can win so I think it’s a huge boost for all the lads.

"It’s the same at Huddersfield where we’re also on a great run.

"Hopefully if Huddersfield get to the final and so do Accrington, theirs will be the night before ours so I’ll go and watch and then get back to the hotel to prepare for ours.

"Whatever happens I’ll be watching every game they play and hoping they get into League One."
