ACCRINGTON STANLEY are going to open talks with a number of players next week as they look to offer them extended deals.

Midfielder Jimmy Ryan is one they aim to tie up with a new contract along with a couple of other players whose deals finish at the end of the season.

“There hasn’t been talks as yet but we hope to begin next week,” said Chief Executive Rob Heys. “I think all the players, except Paul Mullin, are out of contract at the end of the season so we will be talking with one or two about new deals.”

Meanwhile Ryan is hoping to prove a point at Shrewsbury next Tuesday - the club which let him go in the summer.  Ex-Liverpool trainee Ryan hit the winner in the 1-0 win over Morecambe on Tuesday.

“I am looking forward to going back although I expect a bit of stick off the fans!” said the 20-year-old.

“I feel I didn’t get a proper chance there. I got one start, got the Man of the Match and then was dropped for the next game. I am lucky enough to have been given a chance here and show that I can do well. I am happy here.”
