ACCRINGTON Stanley will be hoping for a bumper crowd for their first home pre-season friendly against Championship side Burnley tomorrow (ko 3pm).

For both Stanley and Clarets’ fans, it will be the chance to see their new-look sides in action for the first time close to home before the kick off their respective campaigns on August 9.

And Reds boss John Coleman will have his four new faces on show as, after signing Colin Murdock and Chris King - who now has clearance from the Welsh FA to play - and agreeing terms with John Mullin, they have also agreed terms with midfielder Jimmy Ryan.

The 19-year-old is a former Liverpool trainee who was at Shrewsbury last season.

"He is good on the ball and works hard and has got a bit of strength," said Coleman.

"I think we needed another midfielder to supplement our squad and Jimmy is a decent player that has ambition and hunger."

Ex-Stockport defenders Craig Flowers and James Smith and Wigan’s Peter Moore are also still on trial.

"Any of them can fill the wide right spot. I am also in talks with another winger but we will have to see," said the Reds boss.

Meanwhile, Coleman confirmed that Stanley expect the season-long loan deal with Blackburn Rovers for teenage striker Jamie Clarke to go through next week. The paperwork is at Ewood Park.

"Jamie has got a lot of pace, he comes highly recommended and he can seize his chance to impress us and Blackburn. It is a big chance for him.

"I am still in talks with another striker too."

Coleman has given his team a relaxed end of week, having Scousers v the Rest of the World golf day at Mytton Fold in preparation for the Burnley friendly which is always one to get the fans and the players going.

"I can’t wait for the game - I have been looking forward to it all week," he said.

"I think it will finally feel like the season is nearly here.

"There is always a decent crowd, a good atmosphere with no animosity and, no disrespect to anyone else we have played, but this is a different level and it a good test for our players against higher opposition.

"And they have to play to their best to try and win a place for the opening League Two game against Aldershot."

Burnley boss Owen Coyle is looking forward to managing his first pre-season clash at the FES.

He said: "Accrington allow us to play our reserve matches at their ground and financially they get to keep the gate receipts from tomorrow," he said.

"If we get a good turn-out, they get a very good payday so I think it’s a win-win situation. There is a local interest and it will be competitive."

Coyle could have record £1.3m signing Martin Paterson on show from Scunthorpe; six foot four inch goalkeeper Diego Penny, a Peru international; midfielder Kevin McDonald and left back Christian Kalvenes from Dundee United and Remco van der Schaaf from Vitesse Arnhem.

The Clarets first team have played five pre-season friendlies in America and Scotland whereas many of the Accrington players will be looking to build on the 45 minutes against Cammell Laird they have got under their belts.

After facing Burnley, the Reds will travel to Conference North side Burscough on Tuesday night (ko 7.30pm).

And Stanley have announced a final pre-season home fixture against Everton Reserves on Wednesday 6 August (ko 7pm) - three days before the big kick off.

The Premiership side have agreed to bring a team to help raise money for the Reds’ new stand - they need to have another 1000 seats in place by 1 May, 2009 to comply with Football League rules.

THE inquiry into the Accrington Stanley-Bury match-fixing allegations from the final game of last season is still "ongoing" say the Football Association.
