Accrington Stanley have extended their search for veterans of the 1961-62 season to include all players that featured for the club in their fateful final campaign.

They believe that a number of those that played remain local, including forward Jack Wareing and half back Russell Cuddihey.

The club would also like to speak to relatives of Alex Hamilton, who continued to live in Accrington after the club folded until he passed away in 2009.

Bill Smith, who they believe worked in the Blackburn area after retiring from the game and Lawson Bennett, who passed away in 2010, may have worked as a handyman and gardener.

Anyone who can help with their search can get in touch on 01254 356950, email media@accringtonstanley.co.uk, write to the club or drop in at the Crown Ground.

So far Stanley have tracked down five players from 1962, including three who started the final match against Crewe in Alex Smith, Mike Pickup and Bob Wilson.
