STANLEY fans will be cheering on their Benin international Rommy Boco in the African Cup of Nations.
The huge tournament kicks off for underdogs Benin on Monday where they face Mali in Ghana, which will be shown live at the Crown (ko 7.30pm). It is the first game in Group B where Boco will also face Ivory Coast next Friday and Nigeria (Tuesday 29 January).
There had been rumblings of unrest after Boco did a national newspaper interview and said he unhappy with the Reds. But Chief executive Rob Heys said: "I haven’t spoke to Rommy about it but expect it has been changed in translation.
"Before he left, Rommy was not happy that he wasn’t playing, but that’s what you want as a club - you don’t want a player to be content to sit on the sidelines.
"He is a true pro and wants to be playing week in week out but he’s had a few niggles and that has affected him.
"Rommy has made a lot of friends since he came to Accrington and we will all be watching him and wish him all the best. Then we look forward to seeing him back in Accrington next month."
