MICHAEL Symes is set to sit down and have talks with Stanley officials about a new contract in the next few days.

Monday’s transfer deadline passed without anyone making a new bid for the 14-goal striker after Grimsby’s £100,000 offer was turned down earlier this month.

Symes’ contract runs out at the end of the season

"We want to offer him a new extended deal." said chief executive Rob Heys. "Now the club have paid off their historic debts we will start looking at new deals as a few of the players are out of contracts."

Meanwhile, loan keeper Dean Bouzanis (Liverpool), defender Johnny Flynn (Blackburn) and striker Billy Kee (Leicester) have all signed deals until the end of the season with the Reds.

And now that the transfer embargo has been lifted - the club have paid off the £50,000 to the Professional Foot-ballers Association - Coleman can boost his 20-man squad with other loan players from Monday.

He said: "The first person I want to bring back is Alan Burton from Marine because he deserves his chance.

"We have had a few names put to us, but I don’t know if I will sign anyone else. We will just wait and see."

Burton came through the Reds Academy but, with Coleman limited to 20 players, he has been playing elsewhere but training with the Reds.
