HYDE United want to keep on-loan Stanley defender Mike Flynn at Ewen Fields.

Flynn reaches the end of his first month's stay with the Conference North side after their trip to Moor Green tomorrow (Sat).

And Tigers boss Steve Waywell has made it clear that he want to hold onto the veteran centre-back.

"I will be having a word with John Coleman and I would like to get him for another month's loan with a view to signing him on a permanent basis," said Waywell.

Hyde have won twice since Flynn joined them to climb away from the foot of the table and Waywell has been impressed with the 36-year-old centre-back.

"He's probably been the best of our back-four," added the Hyde boss. "We have a very young side and his experience is invaluable."

Coleman is unlikely to block an extension to the loan deal after Flynn saw his first-team opportunities reduced prior to his departure, while Flynn will want to be playing when the transfer window re-opens.

"I think he wants to stay. He doesn't want to do the travelling any more so it would be a good move for him to come here and hopefully he will," Waywell said.

Meanwhile, Coleman has confirmed that he he wants to extend Phil Edwards' loan from Wigan and then sign the teenage defender on a permanent basis in January following his impressive run.
