Junior football: It was goals galore for Huncoat United's Under 12s who ran out 10-3 victors over Rossendale Valley Wasps.
2010 hadn’t been a good year for the side so the resolution for this year was to go through the 2011 season unbeaten.
And they showed they meant business rushing into a 10-goal lead before allowed their opponents to grab three goals.
Strikers Henry Hindle, with four goals, and Lewis Eccles, with three, led the way.
An excellent free kick finish from Scott Simpson, a lofted drive from James Tuley and a back post strike from Cameron Grice completed the rout. The Referee’s Man of the Match was Tom Strahan with any busy display while Elliot Welsh played an excellent holding midfield role.
The Under 11 Allstars ran out 3-2 winners against Haslingden while the Badgers were also 3-2 winners, this time over Crown Paints.
Meanwhile the Under 14s drew 2-2 Brierfield Celtic.
A hat-trick from Bree O’Carroll and a goal from Abby Dearden secured victory for Rishton United Under 11 Girls against Lammack.
Rishton had to come from behind in a gutsy performance fand had to see the last 20 minutes of the game out with only six players due to injuries.
The star of the show was Bree O’Carroll.
Rishton Under 11s Red started the new year in style, against high flying local rivals Great Harwood.
Dylan Harling finished in style after some good work by Harry Howson. Then Luke Wolstenholme got his first of his four when he managed to get his foot to a goalmouth scramble. There was no scrambling about for his other three goals with the pick of the bunch a 25-yard free kick that is becoming his speciaility that nestled in the top corner. Man of the match went to Harry Howson.
