Paul Cook has been on the hunt for a new defender after Toto Nsiala returned to Everton for treatment.

The loan centre half has been struggling with a hernia and has returned to his parent club.

"Paul has been on the phone all day Wednesday and Thursday trying to get someone in," said chief executive Rob Heys.

Sean Hessey and Tom Bender are both currently recovering from injuries but could feature.

Cook has already added Hull loan winger Jamie Devitt to his squad last week and the 21-year-old has been a positive from the last two games.

Stanley, though, have missed out on the signing of Sligo’s Aaron Greene.

The winger, who played under Cook in Ireland, has opted to sign for Shamrock for family reasons.
