STANLEY winger Chris Turner fulfilled one dream of playing against the club he supports - and now wants to fulfil another by starting against Rotherham on August 8.

The Burnley fan - who came through the youth team system at Turf Moor - got a run out in the 2-2 draw with the Premier new boys on Tuesday night.

"I loved playing against Burnley. I was playing against Chris Eagles, who I’ve watched for ages and obviously as a Burnley supporter it was good to get a shirt because I missed out last year. I just worked my socks off!" he said.

"I saw all my mates in the crowd. They’re all Burnley fans, and it was just good to be out there trying to prove a point really."

Turner, 19, is happy with the way pre-season has gone and is hoping he has done enough for the big kick off.

"We’ve done tremendously in pre-season. Burnley are obviously the best team we’ve played, but we did well against Radcliffe, Halifax and Burscough too.

"It's looking good. We’ve got the best squad we’ve had in a bit.

"All these pre-season games help to build up your chances of getting in the starting eleven. I think I’ve done alright, so hopefully I’ll be able to get a start for Rotherham.

"Everyone’s fighting for their places, and it just makes it better when everyone is pushing and trying their hardest.

"I just hope I get my chance and can get a few goals this season."
