Accrington Stanley remain bottom of League Two after falling to defeat away to fellow strugglers Hartlepool.
The hosts came into the game second-bottom and were also looking for their first league win having scored just one league goal so far.
But Pools went into a 2-0 lead inside 42 minutes after goals by Jonathan Franks and Andy Monkhouse.
New loan signing Kayode Odejayi made his Accy debut and his flick allowed James Gray to score the Reds' first goal in seven games in the 57th minute.
Yet Stanley were unable find a late equaliser, leaving them with just one point from seven league games.
James Beattie's men made a poor start and Monkhouse headed narrowly wide early on from Franks' right-wing cross.
Luke James then latched onto a woeful backpass by Gray, from just inside the Hartlepool half, only to drag his shot wide.
Accy replied with George Miller and Gray blazing over before Pools took the lead for the first time this season on the half-hour mark.
Monkhouse found Franks on the overlap and the winger fired inside the far post from the edge of the box.
Tom Aldred, again filling in at left-back for injury-hit Stanley, then headed over from Peter Murphy's cross.
And Pools made him pay moments later as James helped Matty Dolan's pass on to Monkhouse, who swept home from just inside the box.
Monkhouse had a goal disallowed after the break while Accy keeper Marcus Bettinelli tipped over Franks' shot.
Gray pulled one back from Odejayi's knock-down but substitute Connor Mahoney was the only Accy player to test keeper Scott Finders during the closing stages, with Murphy and Will Hatfield heading wide as the hosts held on.
