LAST Saturday proved a fine day for Hyndburn’s Lancashire League clubs as all four tasted victory on the same day.

RISHTON were the ones to buck the trend, beating rock-bottom Bacup to snap their 10-game losing streak, but ENFIELD produced the standout display in a run-fest at Dill Hall Lane.

Professional Werner Coetsee again did the business but captain Adam Bracewell stole the show during a 57-run win against Nelson.

Coetsee (81) made a second-wicket stand of 76 with opener Liam Bedford (64), pushing the hosts to 133-2. Bracewell then joined Coetsee and the pair put on a whopping 154 for the third wicket.

Enfield finished on 300-5, which is their biggest score at Dill Hall Lane since making 309-4 against Colne in 1949.

“It’s only the second time Enfield have reached 300 in limited-overs cricket so it was great to be a part of it,” said Coetsee.

“The wicket was a bit slow. There was some moisture after overnight rain so we had some work to do. But by the time myself and Liam were in, the wicket was drying out and we could really get going.

“Adam had a gem of an innings, it was just disappointing he fell just short of a century.”

Bracewell smashed 98 off 71 balls, which took the 30-year-old past 500 runs for the season and 6,000 in the Lancashire League.

Coetsee then took 5-57 and Simon O’Loughlin 4-59 to bowl Nelson out for 243 in the 49th over.

While Enfield kept their winning form going, so too did the top two so they remain 32 points off leaders Lowerhouse and 18 behind second-placed Ramsbottom. They host second-bottom Colne this Sunday.

“We’ve just got to keep playing good cricket, that’s all we can do,” added Coetsee, who will return home on August 25.

“Lowerhouse have still got to play Ramsbottom twice so they’re ones for us to keep an eye on.”

CHURCH are 19 points behind in fourth after a 10-wicket win at Colne.

Pro Usman Tariq took 5-38 and Lloyd Aspin (3-31) as the hosts were dismissed for 146 in 49 overs.

Then for the second time in four weeks, Tariq and fellow opener Levi Wolfenden both batted through the innings to chase down Church’s target in 28.2 overs. Tariq was 60 not out while Wolfenden was unbeaten on 81. They travel to Todmorden this Sunday.

ACCRINGTON were the visitors at Centre Vale last weekend and restricted Todmorden to 196-9 off their 50 overs, with pro Ockert Erasmus taking 5-52 and Jimmy Hayhurst 3-39.

The visitors then reached their target in the 42nd over with seven wickets to spare. Ramiz Hussain (54) and Sam Excell (61) put on a opening stand of 110 before Accy finished on 199-3. They hit the road again on Sunday to face Nelson.

RISHTON beat Bacup by 63 runs after posting 216-9, pro Matt Hulett top-scoring with 68.

The visitors, who were the only team below Rishton, were then bowled out for 153 in the 45th over, Ali Sartaj taking 4-53. Third-bottom Rishton are unlikely to follow that up this Sunday, though, as they host Lowerhouse.
