THE Stanley Street Club are holding a Singles and Doubles darts competition over eight weeks with £500 in prize money up for grabs

The qualifiers will be held on certain Fridays starting on March 20 through to May 15.

There will be two qualifiers from each Friday night who will go through to a grand final on 5 June.

The winner of the competition will get £250; the runner-up £100; the two losing semi-finallists £50 and then £50 to the competitor who makes the highest finish.

The cost is £3 to enter and it is a case of turning up on the night on either March 20 & 27; April 3, 17 & 24 or May 1, 8 &15.

Registration is 8pm with the games to start at 8.30pm.

Meanwhile, the Accrington town darts team cemented their place at the top of the Super League Division Four following their 6-4 win against Blackpool.

They were 5-1 up at one point but lost three out of the last four games.

Paul Lambert, Gavin Aspin, Jamie Guilfoyle, Tony Clark, debutant Tosh Andrews and Ian MacMillan all won with Ian the star as he averaged 90, including four 140s.

Liam Walsh, Mick Abbott, Graham Crabtree and Dennis Eddlestone lost with Dennis the only player to get 180.

There are just three games to go as the newly-formed town team look to get promoted to the Third Division at the first time of asking.
