SNOOKER ACES Colin Morton and Dale Clark have been crowned Lancashire champions for the fifth time.

The deadly duo won the North West Pairs Championships at the Regal Club in Preston.

And it was a double celebration for Dale who got the highest break of the competition with a 94.

"It is the fifth time we have won it but the first time we have retained it so we are delighted," said Colin.

They won the quarter-finals 3-2 beating a pair from Liverpool and, in the semi-finals, Dale got his big break and saw off the challenge of Accrington's rising snooker star Chris Norbury who was competing with Adrian Wilding for Lostock Hall by the same score.

The duo held their nerve in the final as they overcame John Meakin and Andy Cornwall from Blackpool 3-1.
