STANLEY Club landlord Phil Miller hit the bullseye when five times World Darts Champion Eric Bristow paid a visit to his pub.
The Crafty Cockney is one of Miller's heroes and Phil was delighted when Bristow took part in an exhibition match at the Stanley Street club last week.
"It was a fantastic night, he hit five 180s and produced some good finishes," said the landlord.
"I have been a Bristow fan all my life and once played him when he was in his prime in the mid 1980s. We used to get coaches to the Preston Guild Hall to watch him when he was playing for England - I have been a lifelong fan.
"So it was great to have him here. He brought his own compere and there was a lot of banter."
Two people in particular will treasure the night. Bristow played 15 games and two of the locals turned out winners.
Norman Spencer just needed a double as Bristow was back on 200 and, despite some nerve-racking moments, Norman held on to win.
And Eve Wood was given a 300 start by Bristow but he lived to regret it as she also celebrated a victory over the legend.
"It was packed and everyone, even non darts fans, enjoyed it. It was unbelievable. We hope to have him back once a year," added Miller.
