ACCRINGTON'S Burnley midfielder Richard Chaplow has signed a new four-year deal at Turf Moor.

The 19-year-old had been the subject of a £1million bid from Leeds United but he has now committed his future to Coca Cola Championship side Burnley.

The former St Joseph's player only penned his first professional deal last September and this was due to expire in the summer of 2006.

However, manager Steve Cotterill has moved to get the England Under 21 international signed up to a longer deal, which will now run until the summer of 2008.

Cotterill said: "It is a big boost for him and for Burnley Football Club that he has committed his future to us."

Chaplow, who lives in Accrington, came through the ranks at Turf Moor, having been signed to the club's Centre Of Excellence since the age of eight.
