GREAT Harwood are hoping football fans with time on their hands will cheer them on at home to local rivals Bacup Borough on Monday (ko 3pm).

The NWCL Division One bottom club have picked up of late and are hoping they can go one better than the 1-1 draw they played out with the promotion chasers earlier this season.

Brent Peters' Bacup have among their number Champions League winner David May and former Manchester United player Ben Thornley.

"I have told the lads they don't get the chance to play against a European Cup winner every week so that should be a huge incentive for them," said boss Dave Sharples, whose game last week against Alsager was called off.

"We have turned in our best performances against the top sides so hopefully we will put on a decent show.

"With Accrington playing Sunday, we are hoping a few of their fans will come and support us and make it a good atmosphere.

"Bacup have a good side and fair play to Brent, he has got the players in who will attract a decent crowd. It is no coincidence that the teams with the so-called money are up near the top."

Prices are £4 for adults; £2 concessions.
