FOUR members of Hyndburn Sports Centre's Bredakwai Judo Club were crowned county champions at the Lancashire Judo Championships which were held at Blackburn.
The club had 16 of the 130 competitors taking part and a quartet were celebrating.
Gary Baron won the -90 kilos Dan grade (black belt) senior; Micky O'Hara won the +90 kilos Kyu grade senior; nine-year-old Cameron Clarke won the -12yrs group A in his first competition and 10-year-old Ryan Barnaby celebrated victory in the -12yrs -42 kilos.
There were five silver medals: John Marsden -90 kilos Kyu grade senior; Cain Marsden (10yrs) -12yrs -34 kilos; Matthew Higginson (12yrs) -16yrs -50 kilos; Owain Dawson (12yrs) -16yrs -42 kilos and Bronwyn Dawson (15yrs) - 16yrs -63 kilos.
And there were six bronze medals for Sean Smithson -90 kilos Dan grade (black belt) senior; Chloe Mullen (9yrs) -12yrs group A; Natasha Holt (9yrs) -12yrs group A; Becky-Ann Newsham (10yrs) -12yrs -36 kilos; David Lafond (14yrs) -16yrs -42 kilos and Adam Barnaby (12yrs) -16yrs -46 kilos.
Owain Dawson also entered the open grade -42 kilo section and took the gold medal while Gary Baron celebrated a gold in the senior open grade section as well as obtaining sufficient points to claim his 2nd Dan black belt.
Sean Smithson, a staff sergeant in the Army, returned to pick up a bronze from Nottinghamshire where he is stationed. Sean has recently won two silver medals in the recent Army Championships.
Senior coach Phil Smithson and Denis Povey were pleased with the efforts and achievements of all club members.
