IT'S a huge game for Great Harwood on Saturday as they look to overcome Colne in a NWCL Division One derby (ko 3pm).

But they make the trip to Holt House on the back of a mixed week of results.

Boss Dave Sharples has labelled their clash with NWCL Division Two bottom club Castleton Gabriels in the Challenge Cup on Saturday as a "must win" game.

Luckily they came through it winning 2-1 with Paul Mashiter firing home his 10th goal of the season and Ulborne grabbing the other.

They now face a trip to Leek or Bacup in round three in January.

But then another Second Division side Nelson, in sixth place in their league, knocked Harwood out of the Lancashire FA Marsden Trophy with a 4-1 defeat on Tuesday night.

It could have been more but for the heroics of Bobby Harris in the Harwood goal while John Eastham netted his sixth of the season which was a late consolation for the Robins.

It means Harwood need to put on an improved performance against their local rivals who are currently eight in the division after being promoted with Harwood last season.

"Colne is a big game for us," said boss Sharples.

"We lost to them 4-1 earlier in the season but we held them for a long period.

"A win there will do us a lot of good as we need to get off the bottom of the table and start picking up some results."
