It's eight out of eight for Accrington boxer Luke Blackledge after his latest victory.

The 21-year-old super-middleweight won on a technical knockout in round three of his fight with little known Polish opponent Robert Studzinski at Oldham Sports Arena last weekend.

Kokoro fighter Blackledge had had to watch internet highlights of his opponent to come to grips with his style.

"We did not know a lot about him but he was what we expected – an aggressor who stood and fought and took a lot of punishment," said coach Jason Curtis.

"The referee said to me he was going to stop it at the end of the second due to the punishment Robert was taking but then he stopped it in the third,

"Luke has got a big future in boxing and this was just another step along the way.

"He trains twice a day, is dedicated and is ready to take any fight at short notice to help his career progress."

Curtis was hoping that victory could mean a shot at the Central Area title against Rocky Fielding as Blackledge looks to secure his first title.

Liverpudlian Fielding won the Prizefighter championship a year ago.

"Unfortunately, we had arranged that but the boxing night isn’t going to go ahead but there are plenty of offers on his plate," continued Blackledge’s coach. "Due to his record, Luke is going in the right direction and he won’t be short of offers and we have been looking at people like Chris Eubank Junior. That’s a fight we could definitely take.

"We are just in the middle of a number of negotiations at the moment but Luke is staying fit and is ready for any challenge at any notice, even in Europe.

"Luke is a huge talent."
