ENFIELD Cricket Club made an overall profit of £8132 last year - mainly due to the increase in bar sales.

The cricket club showed a loss of £777 compared to £111 last year. Gate receipts and subscriptions were up and money was raised by the Ladies Committee.

But the postponement of the mixed dinner until this month meant the club missed out on a financial boost and expenditure was up due to roof repairs to the score-box and tea room. The social club made a profit of £8132, however, and the ladies in the tea-room raised a record sum of £4,200 this year.

On the playing side, Enfield were top early on in the season with strong performances from the amateurs. Professional Alviro Petersen was recalled to the South Africa side and missed a number of games and they eventually finished fifth.

Enfield's new paid man for this year is New Zealander Brandon Hiini.
