JASON Curtis will have a tilt at a European kick boxing middleweight title in November.

The 35-year-old, who holds three English titles and one British crown, will get a chance to be the best in Europe as he will top the bill at the ISIS nightclub in Liverpool on November 24.

His opponent is yet unknown although it will be a Spanish fighter in a 'Mixed Martial Arts' tournament where Jason will have to fight in a cage.

"This will be new to me as it is usually a boxing ring but I am willing to give it a go," said the father-of-six, with the whole tournament's events set in a cage.

"I haven't fought in one before but I have 10 weeks to get used to it.

"I am really glad to have the chance at the European title.

"I fought in a prestige fight in Sheffield and won, against a tall, awkward opponent, and a promoter saw me and put me up for the European fight.

"It will be quite nerve-racking, there will be a lot of people there and it will be huge as they are spending a lot of money on the show.

"But I will give it a go and it would be wonderful to win it.

"I will have to up my training as it is over ten rounds and I have never done that before.

"The most I have done is seven for the British title so it is going to mean longer sessions in the gym.

"But I aim to go as high as I can and this could open the way for a World title fight."

That is the ultimate dream for Jason and a Euro victory would set that up nicely.

Jason, who runs the Kokoru club which is part of the Northern Dragon Martial Arts Centre on Dale Street, has had 18 fights so far in his career, where he was a late starter, only taking up kick boxing six years ago.

"I have won 12 and lost six but three of the losses were against world title opponents as I have always had to punch above my station and fight upwards. A lot of these were professional fighters," he said.

In his prestige fight at Sheffield, which caught the promoter's attention, he beat Steven Greensmith who is the current IKF Middleweight kickboxing champ while Jason holds the ISKA title. All the judges scored for Jason.

One of the Kokoro kickboxers, Davis Kamara, also competed in a novice fight and won on points unanimously.
