Fit To Fight Kick Boxing gym has another kickboxing champion after Brandon Hargreaves doubled up.

The 12-year-old Moorhead pupil was one of 10 fighters from the club taking part at Ellesmere Port and they came away with a staggering nine wins and one draw.

Brandon added the World Full Contact Association English title to his WKA crown after a great display of skill to win over local fighter James Clarke.

"It’s always hard to win in your opponents home town but Brandon dominated the bout from round one winning every round," said coach Billy Battrick.

"It was a fantastic night for Brandon kicking and punching his way to a great win. How his opponent kept upright was unbelievable."

Another boxer Hamayoon Kasser, 15, is in the form of his life beating Levi Lawrence from Cardiff, who is the current European and World Junior champion.

Hamayoon is the currrent double English champion who is now unbeaten in 15 fights but this was a non-title fight.

"This was a fight talked about for months with many top coaches and promoters travelling to watch," said Billy. "Hamayoon dropped Levi in the first with a right hand then again in the second with a well timed foot sweep.

"All credit to Levi who showed a champion’s heart to come back in the last round but Hamayoon had done enough to win and is now in line for a British title shot at the New Era in April. He wants one the best wins we have ever had has a club."

Another Accrington champion in action was British champion Daniel Battrick, 12, who fought out of his age group in the 13-15 category – and he came close to adding the English title in the higher age group category to his awards.

He fought 14-year-old Thomas Clarke, a Thai boxing champion from Manchester in a five-round battle.

"The bout was declared a draw – of the three judges, one gave it to Daniel and the other two gave it as a draw," continued Billy.

"But it was a great fight between two junior champions. Daniel gave away 18 months in age and four kilo in weight.

"Thomas said it was his hardest fight he has ever had. We can’t get any 12-year-olds to fight him throughout the country so we have to go into the older category with Daniel."
