MOTORSPORT organiser Steve Johnson is hoping to encourage new drivers to give autotesting a go this Sunday.

Steve has organised a beginners AutoSolo event with Accrington Motor Sport Club and CSMA (NW) MSG. It is open to anyone to join a motorclub and try out this event as AutoSolos are relatively new to this country but have a large following in the USA.

"We have had a good entry so far and there is still chance for drivers to sign up and have a go," said Steve. "It would be especially a good experience for new drivers."

The AutoSolo is a forward timed test - Autotesting usually includes reversing - and markers and numbers will help the lone rider find their way around the course.

Although modified cars are allowed, all competing vehicles have to be road legal and be driven to the event.

Competitors are divided into three groups - while one competes, another marshals and the third takes a rest.

This event will be at the M65 J4 Services and is open to members of: Accrington Motor Sport Club; csma; British Trials and Rally Drivers Association (BTRDA); Knutsford & District Motor Club and Bolton Le Moors Car Club.

There is plenty of time for people to make themselves members and it costs £7 to join Accrington MSC for 18s and over.
