HARRIS Ali aims to be a big hit in the golfing world - thanks to some special coaching.

The 13-year-old’s sporting achievements have been recognised by his school Accrington Academy - and they have decided to help promote Harris’ talent with some financial support.

As part of their ‘gifted and talented’ scheme he will receive £250 and this will enable him to have one-to-one golfing lessons with James Webster of Lee Valley Driving Range in Rishton and Mark Harling, the Accrington Golf Club professional.

Harris has all-round sporting ability being captain of Huncoat United Under 14s football team and enjoying cricket but has now decided to concentrate on a career in golf.

He is a member of Accrington Golf Club and showed his skills at the recent North West’s Play Golf’s Talent Hunt.

There he got down to the final 13 out of 600 entrants.

And Harris has got plenty of other trophies as he won Accrington Golf Club’s Lady Captain’s Gross Prize and Accrington Golf Club’s Steward’s Trophy.

He also finished runner-up in the club’s Junior Golfer of the Year category.
