IT'S a big weekend for Great Harwood as they look to reach the final of two trophies.

Harwood are first in action tonight in the 20/20 semi-final against Blackburn Northern at home (6pm start) - they are the defending 20/20 champions.

Then tomorrow they take on Edenfield in the Ribblesdale League looking to make a late charge for the top of the table.

And finally, on Sunday, it is probably their biggest game of the weekend when they face bottom club Barnoldswick in the semi-final of the Ramsbottom Cup.

"It is a triple header for us," said new skipper Allan Armer, who is looking to lift some silverware after recently taking over the captaincy from Russell Whalley.

Harwood lost to Settle in the Ramsbottom Cup final last season after a disappointing batting show and they are hoping to avenge it.

"I have lost a few Ramsbottom Cup finals and won a few and I tend to try to forget the ones we lost," said the captain. "I remember a couple of seasons ago we made over 250 runs against Read and we lost and that was probably harder to take than last year's defeat.

"And Barnoldswick won't be easy. They are a good side on paper and beat Padiham in the earlier rounds so they are a decent side. But it would be nice in my first half a season as captain to pick up a trophy."

The league has been frustrating for Harwood, as it has for most other teams.

A couple of early losses has left them playing catch-up and, despite 285-7 against Read on Saturday, the weather ended what should have been a certain league victory.

Armer himself got 90 in 73 balls including 15 fours and a six.

"Unfortunately that won't count in the statistics now because it was rained off," said the skipper.

"We wanted to win the league at the start of the season but we will be struggling to do that now - all we can do is keep winning our games and see where it takes us.

"We are still waiting for Russell Whalley to be firing on all cylinders and I am sure that will come soon.

"And the pro, Gyan Pandey, is absolutely brilliant. I think he is one of the reasons I got 90 on Saturday because, when you are at the crease, he talks to you all the time.

"He is a great pro - one of the best I have played with - and hopefully he can help us win at least one trophy this season."

There was also frustration for third placed Baxenden as their game at Settle was called off but they will be hoping for victory at Whalley tomorrow to make sure they keep tabs on leaders Clitheroe.

And Oswaldtwistle Immanuel's pro Ahmer Saeed will be gutted as his 109 against Edenfield won't count. He and Oliver Clare (39) formed a strong opening partnership in Ossie's 212-9.

Edenfield were 126-1 in reply before that game fell to the weather too. They have a tough game at home to second placed Padiham tomorrow.
