A FAMILY has celebrated a hat-trick of holes-in-one at Accrington Golf Club - all on the same hole!

Laura Banks completed the feat in May this year - emulating what her husband and son had done previously with them all scoring aces on the fourth par three hole.

Laura, who plays off nine, has been a member of Accrington GC for 24 years.

She met husband Alec, who plays off 20, at the 10th tee at Accrington and he was the first to hit his hole-in-one around 20 years ago.

Laura's 38-year-old son Lee Shaw followed. He plays off four and introduced his mum to the world of golf after getting hooked on the sport in school.

"It was funny as I waited 24 years for one hole-in-one and then celebrated another a couple of weeks later at Clitheroe," said Laura.

"I didn't realise I had done it at Accrington. It was the lady I was playing with who said it had gone in. I thought it had blown off the green!

"I was pleased - but the one at Clitheroe on the fifth hole was better as we all actually saw it. It was brilliant. It bounced twice and went straight in and I squealed. That one felt better.

"It is strange that we have all got holes-in-one on the same hole but we have all been playing at Accrington a long time!

"Alec got his hole-in-one on the fourth 20 years ago - it was his first and last!"
